- Air Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa Takes Charge As IAF Chief. Air Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa took over as the Chief of the Indian Air Force after Former Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha retired from post.
- David R Syiemlieh appointed new UPSC chairman. David R Syiemlieh has been appointed today as the Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) by President Pranab Mukherjee.
- The World Bank has signed an agreement with the government to provide USD 201.50 million loans for quality engineering education across several states in India.

- India & Sri Lanka signs MoU for multi-ethnic tri-lingual Secondary School. India and Sri Lanka has signed an MoU on February 2, 2017 for the construction of a multi-ethnic tri-lingual school in a north central district of the island nation. The school would provide an opportunity to Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim students to learn in a multi-cultural environment and thus promote reconciliation and unity in Sri Lanka.
- Neeti Mohan collaborates with United Nations for women empowerment. Noted Indian singer Neeti Mohan to collaborate with UN for women empowerment project titled “Music To Inspire – Artists UNited Against Human Trafficking” which is managed by the UNODC. Neeti is the first Indian female singer to collaborate with UN .She has joined the ranks of Ashton Kutcher, Nicholas Cage, Demi Moore, Ashley Judd, Gillian Anderson .
- Bank of Baroda ties up with CNX Corporation.Public sector lender Bank of Baroda BSE 0.60 % has entered into a partnership with CNX Corporation (CNX) with an objective to provide collateral management services towards the loans against warehouse receipt sanctioned to the farmers through the network of the bank’s branches across the country.
- World famous 11-day gala festival Bargarh Dhanua Jatra begins. Odisha’s World famous 11-day gala festival Bargarh Dhanua Jatra is all set to begin on 2 January 2017. All rituals were performed before Goddess Samaleswari, the presiding deity of the event.
